So, I realized that the last time I updated my journal was about four months ago, so I decided its about time to become active.
Well, I worked alot over summer, which really got me nowhere except tired and annoyed because I was barely making any money. I hung out with my dear Amy maybe 3 times, one of which my eye swelled up to the size of a baseball, so I couldn't do anything but look miserable. (Thanks again asneiner for driving my ass around Buffalo <3 )
July 4th was marked with devotion I have never really displayed quite this way- Theresa and I watched ~15 hours of Gackt, a tribute to his concerts in chronological order. By Diabolos I felt like my head was going to detach itself and allow me to sleep, but somehow by 6:30 in the morning we realized that we have probably done something Gackt fans dream about. WE MADE IT THROUGH XD not to mention we almost ruined all efforts by starting it off with red wine.
Also, the release of Drug Party, a.k.a. Gackt announcing to the world that he can actually dance, was a good highlight of the summer. I have officially fallen in love with the song "Storm," and we got to thoroughly ruin Moon Child after the concert, pointing out innuendo and making horrible statements that made no sense, such as Hyde Burns=collar bones, and that Yi-che was hospitalized after mentally snapping when seeing the kids ruin her painting. Other horrible quotes from The Chronicles of Michaela and Theresa:
"I'm Hana and I'm stupid!"
"Wow, Wang's english is really good." >_> <_<
"....he's American."
"Oh yeah."
"What is that girl doing, drowning a fish?"
".....how....do you drown....A FISH."
That was a good night. We also stalked a child that rode her bus senior year, and publicly pointed at her and screamed. Ah, I miss summer.
Now I am officially a UMass student, erm, holler? I found out who my roomate was over the summer, and we exchanged emails a few times, she was really nice, she listened to music I listen to, and she seemed alot like me. I actually got placed in a Language dorm, where each floor speaks a different language and you get more hands-on experience talking the language of your choice. So I come here on move in day, and I find that my roomates not here, but everyone else on my floor was. And I don't hear Japanese coming from their mouths, I hear Chinese. And I have yet to hear any Japanese from anyone.
But, my room is pretty nice. I can just say that I still have so much I have to get used to. I have never had to live with anyone in the same room ever, and its quite easy to see that this is something I will forever have a problem with. I mean, I guess you dont really know a person until you live with them, but really if thats the case then I don't want to know ANYONE. I feel like im being punished in this dorm. Not to be all angsty but I am just unhappy here. Maybe it will change, but college life in the part of the campus I'm at is...how to word this...STALE. Mostly asians live on my floor, they all speak Chinese (which is funny since we are all clearly fluent in Japanese, not Chinese), and the other people on this floor just don't talk. It's only been a week since I have been here, but I feel like its been months. I think once I start getting to meet other people in classes it will get better, but the thing with this school is the person you sit with in lecture, you NEVER SEE AGAIN. I swear they drop, but the size of the classes are 250+ so its impossible to make friends that way. Its another adjustment from MCC, but its alot harder than I had pictured.
So yeah, just a quick update. This semester for classes, I had to go DOWN in Japanese (motherfuckers I'm still angry) because the level I'm at isnt existant until next semester, so I'm relearning adjectives, verbs, and things I really never wanted to revisit again. Chinese though is a lot more quick-paced, and I actually am starting to really enjoy the language a lot more than last year. It has a certain delicacy to it, everything must be pronounced so exact to make sense. And I'm taking a study abroad course later on thats required to study abroad next year in Japan XD XD XD I can't wait, I applied fo my passport, and am looking into visas because im confused on that, but its the only thing keeping me sane, knowing that I'm actually going to go to Japan for a year, studying and absorbing as much as I can. It seems like things that can go wrong, WILL go wrong with me, and lately its like I am doing okay, and what I have dreamt and thought about is actually coming true. To go overseas is going to be the best experience of my life, ahh I'm getting excited just talking about it! So yeah, when I start to know more details, where I'm going and when I leave I shall report, but right now I just have to figure out where in Japan I want to study abroad.
Hmm, and I'm taking a Linguistics course, it all seems so interesting. The school itself is awesome, and the profs are too, its just finding where I fit in and making friends. And I have to learn how to gently tell my roomate that I would rather stare at the wall then communicate with her... That might be a hard one though.
Okay, this has turned into a ramble, so I will stop now. Just wanted to prove my existence :) And, on a side note, MIYAVIS BIRTHDAY IS NEXT WEEK XD I am baking a cake and dressing to his taste on behalf of him. <3
So, I figured it was time for an actual update on nothing at all really.
Its been months since I have actually been active on here, this brings back memories of last year.
Last semester finished (finally) and this one is flying for some reason. I think its because I'm taking classes that I am actually passionate about, instead of chemistry and math and whatnot >_< I'm taking chinese this semester, and I actually really enjoy the class, although it still continues to sound harsh and violent compared to the velvety sound of Japanese.
Japanese got so much harder this semster, I think its because we are learning actual sentence structure, conjugations, and well, the language. Before it was mostly memorizing what characters meant what, and now its applying those. Every day I walk into that class though I feel motivated to do well, which is something I have never really experienced. But we have an upcoming film project due in there, and I have to find something easily accessible to watch and write a summary on it in english and find 50 words and 10 sentences I can translate, so if anyone has a good suggestion let me know ^_~
Oh yeah, and I changed my major, to (guess) Japanese Language and Literature, as if that was a surprise. I applied to Albany and University of Massachusettes for this, and am anxiously waiting for replies...
I went and saw the high school's production of Cats last weekend. I went to the dress rehearsal, and it was pretty good. But when I went to the opening night, nothing could even begin to describe the energy the cast had. I actually became quite emotional and began to cry because not doing plays sooner than my senior year has been something that I have regretted. Even though I wasn't a good actress and had more fun trying to mess people up rather than play my role, it was something that created a family and a sense of belonging that I have never experienced again. And it was so exhilerating to be able to stand on a stage and perform for others something that has been practiced for months. I don't know, call me a freak, but I missed it so much. I think the worst was seeing my sister, Hannah, Maddy, and a few others having so much fun, and me only being able to watch from the side. *sigh* You guys did great!
I have been caught up so much i school and working 35 hours a week ( >_< ) that I haven't really been giving time to friendships, and now that I'm talking about play it kind of makes me sad that I haven't been giving time to these people who I care about so much. So that is going to change. I am going to stop being an emo bitch and start acting like myself again. I think its just being on my own and having zero energy after doing everything that really gets my mood down. I'm just counting on spring break coming soon...
I don't really know what else to say, except... I'm back. and I will end on a good note. Even though I did not make it to NYC to see a concert that I had counted on and helped me get through the preceeding days (nyah) I have found three things to replace this sadness with.

ohhh and thanks to Theresa's information, Gackt is working on a new album right now! How can the world get any better?!
I don't know why I'm posting this. Partly because my day is ruined, and they make me realize I have at least my pride to look forward to, and partly because I wish that was me. Kind of.... Again, sorry if I have made anyone waste 4 minutes of their life. These girls are funny though.
Okay so, my japanese teacher took the whole lesson today to show us how to use microsoft word with japanese characters, and how to turn off the japanese input and on, and how to do it.
I swear I'm really not computer illiterate, but I feel like a grandma.
Everytime I go into word and type in my key sequence which is supposed to enable japanese input, only letters come up. It goes in the right font that the characters are in, but its just not letting me type the characters. I got it to work in class but I forgot how i did that, it was pure luck >_<
From now on we have to use word because she said our handwriting makes her cry, so I really have to learn this as soon as possible...
if anyone knows how to help me please let me know >_
In exactly one week from now me and Theresa, despirte the fact that we have no way of getting there, are going to NYC for a Dir en Grey concert XD XD XD
